"... to be happy, I just want to be happy" is the typical answer.
But it's not really working out, is it? Not for you, not for anyone.
You feel entitled to a happy life because you've done everything you were supposed. You followed all the rules: went to school, got married, got the job, got the car, the kids, the house, the vacations, the electronics, etc. You consider yourself a successful person in all the metrics that society has put in place.
And yet your day-to-day is unimpressive, predictable, unsatisfying, dull and most of all lacks purpose and meaning. Waiting for the weekend to arrive is not how you imagined life when you were just starting out. This isn't how it was supposed to be!
You had energy, vibrancy and a vision of an exciting life. But here you are today and that amazing life has not materialized. Happiness is not part of your life on a regular basis.
