What The Hell Does That Mean?
Explaining in modern language the wisdom of spiritual teachers across the ages.
This quote is from Marcus Aurelius "Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth."
This one is huge! This wisdom is echoed in all spiritual teachings. The world's happiness and suffering emanate from this truth. I will spend a lot of time on this idea on EGO Hacking.
What you think is real is nothing but your interpretation of reality. I know it looks real to you but nothing out there is good or bad, right or wrong. Nature does not know "right" from "wrong", "good" from "bad", these are human concepts.

No one has done anything bad to you. You are a victim because you perceive, or interpret an external event as negative.
Let's say you are standing by a lake and throw a rock into the water. That's the external event. You observe the rock hitting the surface, then it disappears under the water and leaves an expanding wave. This event is not right or wrong, good or bad. It just is. I'm sure we can agree on this.
Now, let's say you're visiting an African safari. You just watched a lion chase a zebra and kill it. After the kill, a few more lions join the meal. This is the external event that your body sees and hears. Is this good or bad? Right or wrong? What is your interpretation?
Remember, nature does not judge. The reality of the external event is the truth. Your interpretation of this truth is biased by your judgment. But realize that every individual will have a different interpretation of this external event. Which one is right and which is wrong?
There is no right or wrong, it's just your perspective, your interpretation, your judgment. Nature shows you the truth, practice holding two opposing judgments without interpretation.
This concept is perhaps the first step towards becoming awakened. Read the following quotes to see how prevalent this idea really is.

We don't see things as they are. We see them as we are. - Anais Nin | There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so. - William Shakespeare |
We cannot choose our external circumstances, but we can always choose how we respond to them. ~ Epictetus
It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see. - Henry David Thoreau | Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one. - Albert Einstein |
